Jean Paul Gaultier has combined his unique signature style and his fun light-hearted attitude to create the must-have fashion accessory of 2012. The collection themed ‘Night & Day’, pays homage to Gaultier’s infamous designs.
The, ‘Night’ bottle has a sexy Rock Chick edge with a corset style reminiscent of Jean Paul Gaultier’s catwalk shows and iconic cone bra design. The provocative bottle is perfect for after dark - the lace and fishnet design highlights the female-like silhouette of the iconic bottle shape and adds a never-before-seen edginess to the Diet Coke limited edition collection.
The ‘Day’ bottle is inspired by Jean Paul Gaultier’s signature Breton stripes and captures his fun attitude. The iconic nautical-themed blue and white design showcases a stylish romantic everyday look. To complete the ensemble the shiny red bottle cap acts as a chic beret, and a star tattoo pays homage to Gaultier’s sailor muse.

During the launch models created a storm in the West End, transforming a Harvey Nichols window into a spectacular live body art installation to launch the new Jean Paul Gaultier for Diet Coke collection. Bringing to life Gaultier’s exclusive ‘Night & Day’ bottle designs, award-winning body artist Carolyn Roper created living embodiments of the iconic contour bottles in the UK’s first body art display to take place in a store window.
Passers-by were mesmerized by the unique installation of the show-stopping ‘Night & Day’ collection, as it hit the shelves in Harvey Nichols. Models were totally transformed by intricately applied luxe lace and sailor stripes, reflecting Gaultier’s use of his signature style in this designer collection for Diet Coke. Available exclusively in Harvey Nichols stores and online throughout April, the stunning bottles and bespoke collectors’ cases allow Diet Coke and Gaultier fans alike to take home a piece of fashion history.

Asked to comment on his role as Creative Director, Jean Paul Gaultier said: “The brand asked me to explore its fun personality and to style the bottle. I want to show people the codes and signatures I love. The bottles have the shape of a woman’s body, so it was great fun to ‘dress’ them. The Diet Coke motif is so beautiful I had to design around this. The finishing touch was to apply my logo to the bottle, like applying a fragile stamp – making it something special you want to touch”.
Building on Diet Coke’s impressive heritage of fashion collaborations, this is the first time that a fashion designer will be involved in so many aspects of the brand. Gaultier’s inspired talent will fuse with the brand’s DNA in 2012, creating fashion must-haves for girls with a ‘lighter approach’ to style and fashion. A number of original and exciting projects will be unveiled throughout the year, combining the avant-garde style of Gaultier with one of the world’s favourite soft drinks brands.
